Open Enrollment for 2008
Open enrollment is quickly approaching and will run from Oct. 29 - Nov. 30,
2007 It is important review the changes to the plans to be best informed
as to which plan best fits your needs. It is then important to select a
health plan during PEBB's open enrollment period:
- You can verify that the providers (including hospitals and doctors) you
are currently with or likely to need will participate with your new plan in
2008. This is particularly important for members in Clark County.
- The plan you choose will affect how much you plan to contribute to your
FSA next year. For example, if your new plan has an annual deductible (like
UMP), you can count that as a qualifying expense under your Flexible
Spending Account.
- You will receive your I.D. card(s) and plan information materials before
January 1, 2008. This will help your provider or pharmacy process your
paperwork if you need to access services or treatments on January 1.
The PEBB has made changing your plans simpler through e-coverage - an online
enrollment tool on PEBB's Web site. It takes just a few minutes to review
your current plan enrollment, and change plans for 2008. While you're on our
Web site you may also learn about other benefits, such as the Flexible
Spending Account (FSA), Dependent Care Assistance Program (DCAP), life
insurance, and long-term disability benefits.
Important, simple, and informative - please look at your options for 2008
and make a selection that's best for you and your family.

Health care flexible spending accounts
A Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a tax-free account
that allows you to reduce your taxable income while saving money to pay
for out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision, hearing, and
prescription-drug costs.
When you enroll in an FSA, you decide how much to contribute to the
account for the entire plan year (January 1 – December 31). The annual
minimum is $240 and the maximum is $2,400. The money is deducted from
your paycheck pre-tax (before federal income taxes and FICA taxes are
deducted) in equal amounts over the plan year.
After you incur expenses that qualify for reimbursement, you can either
use your ASIFlex debit card to pay for the expenses or submit claims to
ASIFlex (the FSA administrator for the Public Employees Benefits Board [PEBB]
program) to request reimbursement. To learn more about the FSA and/or
to sign up download the FSA Handout, or link to the PEBB FSA web page:
